We have two border collies, Jesse & Crash.  In January 2006, we decided to get
our first dog.  Jeff really wanted a border collie, so we met a breeder with a
small litter of puppies.  A small white one with two different colored eyes caught
our attention immediately.  As we were getting to know him, this little black and
white pup kept coming up to us and trying to play.  He wouldn’t give up, even
pushing others out of his way.  And so, Jesse came home with us.  At the time,
we didn’t even know disc dogging existed.  Like many others in the sport, we
got started just by playing Frisbee in the backyard and noticed Jesse seemed to
be pretty good.  We joined up with the Flying Houndz of Louisville in September
2006 at the Buffalo Crossings demo and have been hooked ever since.  Our first
competition was in October of 2006 at the Ohio Cup qualifier.  At our second
competition, in November 2006, Christy fell in love with a little red pup and he
became part of the family.  We named him Crash because he was full of energy
but a major klutz so everywhere he went, he crashed.  In our short disc doggin’
careers, we have had many memorable moments:  placing 8 times in
competition, demos at baseball games, and just hanging out with some of our
closest friends.  Nothing compares to stepping out onto that field with our dogs.
It is a feeling we wouldn’t trade for the world.
